Here are some more paper dolls that I can create for the show. I love this idea and think it would even be a great idea to sell off when we have created an animation for someone.
This women was a big inspiration for this project, she inspired me to try out water colours. against these you can tell I need more work on it. Her name is Devon Smith.. you should check out her tumblr. I love the colours and posing of the girls she draws. They are very soft and dreamy like.
This guy is another inspiration of mine who draws portraits and people in his own different style using just colour pencils and paint. I love how he puts them into frames finishing off the picture. I do want to do this for the show with all the characters I have created. Having them in a different position to the ones in the videos. We will have to see how they turn out.
These were the rest of the assets I create. I think for the whole of the project the sailor is my favourite thing I have done. I didn’t want to add too much detail to it and just with that single tear being sad about swapping the monkey. The birds work well In the video as we had to do it going into flight.
This was the monkey In our very last animation. This was a really good story. We did use him in the middle and at the end to finish the whole story off.
This is the bear from the 3rd animation. I wanted it to be very human like but with this added bear likeness. The body was hard to create as well as the walking motion which would be easy for Rachel to make turn around and wave at the viewer (school kid).
This video was pretty easy to create expect the walking girls. it really just has 3 frames excluding the nice added extra of the bin bag we put in there when she messed up her story. This was her so disappointed when walked up to the “cute cat”. This we discussed will be the last frame and it will just zoom out leaving her in this empty space with her disappointment. I thought this idea would make people laugh and is a nice added extra to the piece!
This was the little silly poster to draw others to the video! I used a word from the animation again. I think it really sums up the video and the added touch of the bin bag cats I love.
There was a bit in the story where they freak out and go crazy over this cute cat they can see in the distance. Me and rachel thought it would be a really good idea to turn her into a anime girl close up and then start running over to it.
Looking for paper dolls I came across this wall sticker. It looks so cool and I love how you can put the arms and legs in different positions. An idea maybe to carry the merchandise on?
A while back I was trying out some water colours and inks, seeing if they would be good to use if we wanted to colour the images in. I will say I am not a natural at it. But I think we are definitely keeping everything black and white as to not detract from the story.
We wanted to think about the show and how our space would work together. We had the idea of drawing on the walls one of our characters. So far I think the kid has pulled at our heart strings. We would probably choose him to hold something up!
